Name This Program!
The Arc is starting a brand new program. It involves becoming more active and learning how to be more healthy. This program is for anyone young or old, big or small. We want to create opportunities for people to move and learn that you do not have to commit to a diet plan in order to be healthy. This is not a weight loss program, but will benefit your health by introducing an increase in movement and activity. We have seen over the past few years, as the population we serve grow older, their activity level decreases. Due to this decrease in activity, people gain weight, have an increase in blood pressure, cholesterol and other unwanted health risks. While working with Dr. Ken Pitetti from Wichita State University, we found that by increasing the activity level of our participants we can decrease these side effects. Our program is aimed at getting people out and active through dances, stretches, games, sports and of course, education on how to eat healthily. This does not mean you cant have your pizza, but learning what kind and how much is the key to the success of this program.
We want you to not only join, but come up with a name for the program. Please submit your entries to Benjamin Stauble at The Arc. You can do this by mail, e-mail, or phone. The winner will receive a handsome prize that will kickoff your start to a new active lifestyle.
